We are delighted to announce a new client, Asbury Environmental Services (AES), who are in the business of handling and transporting hazardous waste to recycling plants.
AES specialize in collecting and transporting a variety of waste materials including used motor oil, oily waste water, waste gasoline, used oil filters, used antifreeze, fuels, and paint-related waste. The used oil, used antifreeze, and used oil and gasoline fuel filters that AES collects are then recycled.
The final destination for this hazardous waste is AES’s sister company DeMenno/Kerdoon (DK) recycling plant in Compton California, which recycles millions of gallons of waste oil and antifreeze every year.
Recycling oil means removing impurities like dirt, heavy metals, chemicals, and water so the oil can be re-refined into lubricating base oils used to make engine oils. In fact, the re-refined oil is equal to and sometimes even better than crude oil. For example, it takes 42 gallons of crude oil, but only one gallon of used oil, to produce 2.5 quarts of new high-quality lubricating oil. The used oil may also be processed and burned for heat or used in power plants to generate electricity. For instance, just 2 gallons of recycled motor oil will power the average American household for almost 24 hours, so saving energy is definitely a benefit of recycling used motor oil.
New Mexico transloading is proud to be partnering with a green business actively working to make the environment cleaner. We look forward to a long and mutually rewarding relationship.
Don’t forget to do your bit for the environment too by making sure you dispose of your used oil responsibly!
